Dash A/C problem

What causes the damper doors on the evaporator coil box under the hood to stay open whle in max air mode ?. When open the outside air is pouring in and preventing the ac from cooling.

Could be vacuum motor bad on damper. Or not getting vacuum to motor. Put control on Max A/C and unplug vacuum line from motor. If getting vacuum then motor is probably bad. If not getting vacuum then you need to trace vacuum source back to the failure point.

Are all your other vacuum operated systems working ok? Like when you switch from defroster to heater or vent does the systems change as they should or not. If not then maybe your vacuum pump isn't working. Can you hear the pump run when you first turn the key on? It should run until vacuum is built up then shut off. If it runs and never shuts off then you have a leak somewhere.

I did pull vacuum line off and motor started running plugged back in and damper closed. I also noticed that no water drains out of a/c drain unless dmpers are opened. With dampers closed water seems to be laking out of damper openings and when I pull the vacuum line off water immediately runs out of the drain tube. I believe for some reason the dampers are opening and shutting and therefore I am not getting the full benefit of Maxair.

Doesn't make any sense that drain doesn't work when damper is closed. Should drain open or closed. Shouldn't fill up with water and leak out damper door. Sounds like when damper door is closed it is causing something to block drain. Run something up the drain tube with damper closed and see if you feel an obstruction. Then open damper and see if the obstruction is gone. You need to figure out why the drain tube is being blocked when damper is closed.

You may want to check the drain hose for a blockage or kink and blow air to clear as said should always drain,
In QT's # 3 there is a section on the Evans AC/Heater system, wiring ,parts and trouble shooting.
