More than likely ...check the following:
-Loss of vacuum to operate the damper doors in the A/C-Heat system.
-Damper doors are stuck in the heating position.
-Control switch/cable is not operating.

I don't know the limits of your technical ability to trouble shoot this, so let us know a bit more about your coach.

Also, welcome to iRV2 ...wish you were not having a problem.
Ken

Ken I have a 2005 3815 DSDP cummings 370. Where do I look for the valves etc. I have some experience working on autos. Any help you could give me would appreciated. The coach is still under warranty, but the closest dealer shop is Denver and they are all booked up.

Thanks,

Keith

I am not familiar with the DS and not a clue where they hid things. Since all of the A/C-heat controls are in the dash, I would start there. Also, to get the vacuum top operate the controls, do you have an electric or an engine driven vacuum pump...assuming the controls are vacuum actuated. They may be actuated by electric servo motors, in which case you need to find th epower source fro thes devices.

Keith welcome to the Newmar forum and irv2.
I'll take a shot your Evans air I think you can see from under hood over the left side of coach. You may have to reach over Gen you will find colored plastic tubes feeding to controls for Evans and going to it. Make sure all are connected to tubes on control and one on the Evans unit to a canister on bottom of Evans.
There is a Evans valve control connecting the heater hoses also.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.

It is most likely your Evans Control Valve sticking. The easy way to find out is put a c-clamp on one of the heater hoses under your front hood. This will stop the coolant from going through your heater.
I have a 2004 DSDP and had the Evans Control Valve replaced twice while under warranty. The valve is cheap plastic and it doesn't take much for it to stick in the open position.
While the engine is running, it works best at lower rpms (less pressure against the valve) turn your selector all the way to heat then all the way to cold. This will unstick the valve most of the time.
It will take a few minutes to purge the hot air.
I spliced a shut off valve in my heater hose, shortly after replacing the last ECV. That was 2-1/2 years ago and haven't had a problem since then.

My problem is that the AC has NEVER worked correctly. I get it charged, it lasts for a couple of months, and then when I need it again, it doesn't work. Back to the repair shop. They say they find a small leak, recharge, and I'm off. 6 months later, it's the same thing. Repair shop. Small leak. Recharge. Etc., etc. -- they just can't seem to find the problem with mine.

Here is what some of us have done to keep the hot water from interfering with AC portion of EVAN AC/HEATER unit. Its a ball valve with a couple of 1/2" pieces of copper tubing, the tubing will fit snug into heater hose.

No kidding. I started off with a Newmar dealer in Tucson. The next time it was a Cummins Coach Care shop in Minneapolis, and then there was the Cummins repair shop in Tucson. I'm just about out of ideas.

Ken, One source left Newmar Repair Center, have found dealers just don't get it, Center has AC people come in and do the work just have all recent work done by others available.
