Have anyone removed the top dash pad of an "06 essex to get to the AC blower motor. Pulled mine out of storage and drivers side blower is dead. Haven't any repair shops close and I need to get on the road. Newmar said it is under the dash pad and I thought I could search on the forum and find someone that pulled theirs out but no luck. Pass side works.
Any-help would be appreciated

Thanks.
A K

Just to let you know, the dash doesn't come out. I found the blower motors in the Evans box against the firewall. What a nightmare.

How did you fix it? We've got the same problem with a 2005 Travel Supreme Select.

I had to go in from the front above the generator against the firewall. You have to pull the cover off of the Evans unit the top three screw holes are slotted because you can't get to them. Just remove the front screws on the front cover and yank down. It will come of. Then you can get to both motors. They are held in by 4 screws on the base of the blower motor cover. The problem I had was a dirty commutator. . I ordered a new motor and they over nighted me the wrong one. Newmar must not due most of there repair work. They sub it out to a company up there. I'm glad I didn't drive all the way up. One guy at Newmar said pull the dash another said it was under the firewall but they hadn't changed one. They said when they have to replace one they have an auto repair AC shop come in and do it. It is a Evans Tempcom unit. Good unit but Evans don't have any tech help. I repaired the old motor by cleaning the comutator. If I could of just spun it up it probably would of cleaned itself. Brush type motor.

Do you think I could drill a hole then spin the motor by hand to clean it?
If so, where would you suggest I drill?

Thanks for the info.

Just look up above the generator and it is a box mounted in the middle of the firewall. I think there are 8 or 10 sheet metal screws that hold the cover on. Just unscrew the front ones and pull bottom out and you should have enough room to run your hand up and spin. You can also hook 12 volts to the plug on the motor to see if thats the problem. Mine is an Essex with the Evans temp unit

I wouldn't drill thru cover, you might hit the evaporator or one of the two heater cores.

Welcome to irv2 jsmith, its best to follow a k's advise when working on problems around these expensive machines. A QUICK fix can get you in a big fix and costly one to boot.
Lots of info on forums and your questions can be answered sometimes by using the SEARCH at top of forums also.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.
