We have an 04 DSDP. Anyone ever replace the dash radio? Mine gets very poor reception. Might also be the antenna. Also want to hook up my Sat. radio direct. Any suggestions.

Hi mercerc44,
If you are getting poor AM radio reception, join the club. The problem is with the antenna system. Since I never use AM radio, I never tried to improve the reception.
On the question about satellite radio, it is difficult to answer without knowing what you are trying to do. Do you want to purchase a satellite radio unit that plugs into your head unit? This requires your current radio to be satellite ready. Do you want to use a separate satellite radio that plays through your current radio via tuning to a specific frequency? Or is what you want to do something different that previously mentioned?

I agree with Gary on ANT but if you have the Sony radio you may have a XA-300 unit that you can add a few features.
You have head set input, audio inputs and USB. I added a I-Pod in one of the audio inputs.

Where would that device be located if we were looking for it?

I bought new antennas due to the originals cracking at the base where they bend back in the wind. When I went to change them out I noticed the base male fitting coming up from the motorhome roof was painted over. I took a knife and scraped off the paint to make metal to metal contact with the new antennas and the difference in reception was dramatic. Just screw off the rubber antennas and check them out, cheap fix.

I'll check out what brand of radio I have. Mine is the original radio that came with my 04 Dutch Star. At the present time I listen to Sat radio through an unused freq. on fm. When traveling, this involves changing the freq. setting several times a day. I haven't found a freq. that has never been used.

rcatter, as you can see I have a panel on top of dash in front of steering wheel.
You life up one corner of panel held by Velcro tabs and you will find unit held on a shelf to the right of the hole.
Not sure your DP ? has the access panel.

Most of the radio's installed in the 2000's have slide in radio's. Check your paper work and find the radio packet. Check it and you should find the lock keys. (they don't look like keys, more like small metal tabs.) Push these in and unlock the radio. It will pull right out. This is not a hard job. The hardest part will be to figure out the speaker wires. To find out which wires go to which speaker, Take a flashlight battery and touch a speaker wire to each end of the battery. Have someone listen at each speaker. the speaker that has static coming through it is the one touching the battery.
