I need to search for a short under the dash. Has anyone ever had to remove it and if so, were there any tricks to the process. Any and all help appreciated. Larry

Welcome to the Newmar forum lbassi. LARRY
The only thing I can think of is remove the screws on plexiglass dash face. Dependant on which one may have 6-8 screws to remove than drop out the face plate being careful of not pulling plugs off switch's and controls.
What do you have for a short and what is the item with a problem.
You have a DP your problem may not be in dash area.

Thanks. My problem is intermittent and is with my backup camera. The last time this happened, a tech was moving wires under the dash and the camera came back on, hence the thinking that it may be a short. I have a troubleshooting guide from the camera manufacturer and I am now in the process of going through that. The problem may be power supply because I get no "backlight" light from the on/off switch. When I got into the fuse panel, I noticed many of the fuses were not the amps listed in the Newmar schematic so I will do all of that first. The dash will be the last item if at all. Thanks for the reply. Larry

I had a similar problem on my Essex, however it also involved the functioning of the switches on the dash as well. Found it it was a loose connection which was reach without removing the dash. It happened to be a mobile tech who was smart enough not to figure it out on his own, but called Newmar and got advice as to what it could be. He succeeded when he reached under the dash, near the steering column, and over to the right. A plastic "clip" of wires had come loose, and he simply snapped them together-all part of the two year shake-down. Before he fixed it, they would flash back on when we hit a bump (we were on I-80 from San.Fran-Reno, so there were a lot of bumps), until a big bump finally dislodged the connection entirely.

Hi, If you have to take the dash apart, let me know and I will provide any help I can. I took mine apart and also built in a cabinet on the passenger side.

I am trying something different right now in hopes of not having to take it out but I will contact you if I need to actually take it out. Thanks again. Larry

If you take out the black panel holding the rear view camera screen, you will have access to the wiring and video connectors. You will also see 2 of the screws that start the dash lower panel removal which you probably do not need to do.
