Are dealer purchased build slots a general build reservation or are they model or even floorplan specific? If I want to order a Canyon Star must the dealer have reserved the particular coach I'm interested in?

It is my understanding, That the slots are specific only in terms of gas or diesel. Not model or floor plan. However, things do change. Newmar or a dealer can tell you for sure.

In 2015 our Canyon Star was ordered as something other than a 3953, however, i believe it was a 39XX. The Ventana we ordered was actually a 4037 to start, we just changed wood and added specials.
