My transmission and exhaust brake control panels/switches on my 2008 Ventana are about even with my left shoulder (short legs) so in order to make sure I am pushing the correct button I have to turn my head at least 45 degrees and look down at the floor to operate, which means my eyes are off the roadway, in order to see what I am doing. Not an ideal situation IMO. I will admit I have put my transmission into reverse when moving forward, transmission goes into default (neutral) coach starts to slow, get an inhibit alarm (I think), and scares the heck out of you when you figure out what the noise is all about, just have to move it to neutral then back to drive. Transmission will not shift directly from Drive to Reverse or visa versa, OBC again smarter than the operator. Was trying to downshift.
Both of my passenger vehicles I own have control arms on either side, and push buttons on each side of steering wheel, so I am used to all those controls.
Lets see, I could have bought a 2019 with a transmission and brake control pad/button/switches that I have to take my eyes off the road to operate, or ordered a 2020 that operated the transmission and exhaust brake on a control arm on the steering wheel that I could operate with my eyes forward on the road with a glance down like checking my speed, no brainer for me!
Hard part will be learning what movement controls what!
The one thing in life that is constant is that "things chance" all the time, not long ago we all would race to the phone some where in our house or RV when it rang, now its in our pants or shirt pocket!
