I don't hate the stuff! The pictures posted here show that it was doing it's job. People complaining about Daimond Shield that is over five years old need to know that it is time to just replace it. It doesn't look good forever. I would personally rather have Diamond Sheild than chips all over my front end.

The best solution might be for Newmar to offer Diamond Shield as an option?? If the customer likes it, buy it -- if not; don't. Everybody wins?

I took mine off the Bus 3 years ago and have not been disappointed. Since we travel a LOT of dirt and gravel roads I use a bra when going the long distance trips (Alaska 2 times, Arizona 3 times). The occasional stone chip I repair with little problem and an occasional polishing is all that is necessary to keep it showroom new. If I ever replace the 08, there will be NO Diamond Shield on the new rig. The only place I've found that Diamond Shield works well is around the door handles to eliminate scratches.

Have yet to see a satisfied owner....my 2006 DS does not look that bad and it did its job as a 'bra' - Bras do not not last forever - I had various kinds on my sports car and 100% saitsfaction does not exist and never existed, so

My DS on my '06 Essex is still like new. If I remove it I would replace it with the same. Why do't someone set up a POLL to see who likes it and who don't?

Me personally have had no issues with the diamond shield on our Dutch Star. I've seen one that really looked like crap, and all I can do is keep my fingers crossed that I don't run into the same problems.

There are an abundance of people that are very hapy with the Diamond Shield and then there are us that, for some reason, the Diamond Shield just turned dark and ugly. No one has pin pointed the exact reason whether its lack of maintenance or the environment its in, (North vs South vs East vs West vs Dry vs Wet vs Cold vs Hot). But since mine turned really ugly and disgusting looking I pulled it off and would rather risk the paint than have DS on there again.

I just removed the DS from my 2003 Mountain Aire and am thrilled how the front looks new again. Mine was shrinking and separating in various spots, and where it separated it left behind the glue which of course attracted every spec of dirt in the vicinity. I used the advice seen on this forum. I'll recap here:

1) soak an area with WD-40 2) using heat gun, heat an area and peel the film off using orange "Scraperite" plastic razor blades. I used a Permatex handle that comes with two blades that I purchased at Pep boys. I got extra blades at West Marine. The permatex handle really helped give leverage.
3) scrape glue thinned with Zylene. I couldn't find Zylene but I used Kleen-Strip industrial maintinence coatings thinner, which I think is naphtha.
4) finally strip with Goof-Off
5) finish with a wash and wax.

It took me about 9 hours to do this from the lights up (about 75% of the DS). The lower DS is still not too bad, no cracks or shrinkage. If it starts to go I will know how to handle it!
