I may be getting slow, anyone notice the changing of the Newmar Presidential guard?

RV News Magazine - The Voice of the RV Industry - Since 1975
about half way down the page

Quoted here (since the above link will expire in a couple weeks):

RV News Jun 2009 - Volume 31 - Number 10
Newmar Announces Addition to Executive Staff
NAPPANEE, Ind. - Newmar Corporation has appointed Matthew Miller to its executive committee. Miller, who began his new duties as President on Monday, has been involved in various Newmar business activities since May 1991, and is the son of Newmar owner Mahlon Miller.

"I'm pleased to increase my involvement and I'm looking forward to working side-by-side with Dick Parks to continue to grow the company," said Miller. "Newmar has a great management team in place and I'm excited to become a part of it."

Parks, President of Newmar since October 2001, has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board and will continue to be a part of the daily operations at Newmar.

Scuttlebutt has had it for some time that Matt Miller is being groomed to take over running the company.

I thought Matt Miller was president over a year ago!!! Anyway its official now, nothing like keeping it in family, maybe some better improvement will set back in the cooperation again.

Sorry guys, but that is OLD news. Matt Miller has been President for several years now. I have no idea why a June 2009 edition of that publication contains news from 2006. Most of the other articles therein are also from 2006. ED

I guess it was Miller the made the decision to go to a one year warranty on all models then. Sign of the times I guess.
Thanks, Daryl

Dick Parks has been credited or blamed for the one year warranty ever since it happened.

IMHO, I have NO doubt the Millers signed off on such an important change, and it was not a Dick Parks unilateral decision.

Probably the best decision "he/they" has made. It was costing them big time with all the trival lists people were bringing in. Was at the factory a few times when we were buying ours and most all of the issues could have been handeld by the owners.

It was nice to think with the purchase of a Mountain Aire and up you were getting a little extra care with 2 years and high line service. Now all, including the King Aire are one year I think. Will not keep me from buying Newmar again. I was just lamenting about how nice it was to not worry about anything for those first three, then two and now one year. Things have changed in the RV bussiness. I hope thing come back.

The Newmar web site indicates that the highline coaches still have a 2 year warranty.

Dirk,
I heard that 2010 all coaches will have one year. This came from my Newmar dealer.

That would be unfortunate.

Since the 2 year warranty cost was built into the base price of the highline coaches, the 2010 coaches will surely have a price reduction.

I sent an email to the editor over at RV News informing them of this little glitch... ED, You are right, all the articles on that page - which has a masthead showing June2009 - are all reports from 2006. Go figure, isn't the web wonderful...
