Diesel Fuel Additives
I understand diesel fuel left in the tank for extended period(winter storage) can start to "grow things". What is everyone using to keep the fuel "fresh"? Thanks Wayne

Actually things don't grow in the winter in fuel.
Things can grow on top of the fuel in the summer heat as long there is air in the tank.
The best thing to put in the tank is Fuel. As much as you can. Things only grow when they have air, reduce the air and you will reduce the algae you are reading about.
Imagine a round saddle tank and the surface of fuel the more fuel the smaller the surface.

I am going to start using Sea Foam, available a WalMart and any auto parts store. I have used others in the past, but Sea Foam has a good rating to prevent algae. Be sure your tank it full when going into storage.

Hi wracinti,
Stanadyne has products for diesel engine and fuel. Go to Lubricity Formula - Stanadyne to determine if any of these products will help you. I have used the Performance formula for years. It has worked as advertised (the MPG part). The company has a sterling reputation.

I asked at Coach Care about using biocide and was told that if I use it I should check the fuel/water separating filter often because when the microbes start dying off they will fill the filter necessitating a filter change.

I have used both and although good products don't seem to control algae. The only thing I have found that works and even if you have a case of algae is Bio-Kleen and I get it at Napa. I had one of the other products in and left NC for Texas. Coach ran fine until we got to the mountains coming out of NC and the algae left us going 15mph on the shoulder of route 40. Stopped and got a filter change but no better. One bottle of Bio-Kleen and it was as if there never was a problem

Anyone ever use Mystery Oil? A oil service truck owner from Alberta, Canada is very big on its qualities and uses it in all his vehicles.

We use diesel stabilizer . Not sure it is the best thing ? but it is our first year owning a diesel motorhome (1999 dutch star)

In 17 years of mh travel I have tried a few. I use Bio-Kleen with anti gel because my rig sits all summer,fall and into winter. Works for me.

I have always used Seafoam, it does a good job of absorbing the water & cleaning the injectors
Bio-Kleen also to keep any algae from growing.
