Diesel Fuel Stabilizer
I am parked for 5 months. I am seeking recommendations for a diesel fuel stabilizer. Hopefully a small container of stabilizer that is easy to store the remainder.
Thanks,
Rex

I use Diesel Kleen. It has an octane boost, adds lubricity to the fuel, cleans injectors and has a fuel stabilizer. I also use a biocide to prevent algae growth. I would also top off your tank. I sit for four months in Florida every year and never had a problem when following these steps.

Yes, biocide is the thing you need most.

Hi LK23,
Consider talking with others where you will be staying. See what they do. I am parked over 5 months of the year in Florida and North Carolina. I make sure the tank is full. I do mean full. I do nothing. No problem for 15 years.

I'm a fan of the Cummins Diesel kleen however I never used a biocide. Over 20 years of DP's I always keep a full tank etc. & never had an issue. Serviced coach last week & I had algae in the fuel filter. Ran right up for a bottle of Bio Kleen & added a shock dose. Also ordered two more fuel filters.

This time of year (December - February) my motorhome sits in storage with LSU football season completed and Texas Hill Country wine trail season not started. I put the following additives in my fuel tank prior to filling the fuel tank as the MH goes into storage:
1) Power Service brand diesel fuel winterizer/anti-gel (white bottle)
2) Sta-bil brand diesel fuel stabilizer
3) Sta-bil brad diesel fuel biocide
As a Refinery operations manager, I know that diesel fuel will oxidize (start turning black) within a month of being stored hence the need for a stabilizer. If there is zero moisture in the fuel tank a biocide is not needed but I add the biocide to assure no bugs grow. The anti-gel additive is to assure the diesel doesn't thicken during 30 F weather.

I go the other way on this and prefer to store my vehicles as low on fuel as is practical. My though is to fill the tank with fresh fuel when I get it out of storage. No worries of bad fuel then and I never had any water issues with my 30+ antique tractors.
Some people will have heart burn over this and will later admit they never tried the empty storage method.

I'm a fan of OptiLube and use their Summer Blend. My coach is always crisp starting and I feel a get a little cetane boost. I add it at EVERY fill up.

Can the Diesel Kleen and Bio-Kleen be put in at the same time?

Thanks and I have another question. Should I put these in before or after I get my yearly service done which will be done in a few weeks.
