From what I noticed at the show, there is a pretty large difference in fit and finish between the Ventana and DSDP. I'd also be concerned about the ISC in a 43' coach. I love Newmar, but really question what they've been doing to their lineup the past couple of years.
I would tend to agree with another poster in that a used higher end coach may make you happier. You can get a Nice 06-08 MADP or Essex for ~$200k likely with most of the bugs worked out. As an added benefit, you don't have to deal with DEF.
Good luck with your purchase!

I don't see much of a difference between the 43' Dutchstar and the Mountaine Aire. Bigger fuel tank and a little nicer looking interior. Same engine and chasis, but about $70K cost difference. We will be buying in 6 month to a year from now. I like that Mountain Aire.

I think the OP is looking at the Ventana vs DSDP?
It's hard to follow Newmar's goofy product line - they've really done a number on it and come full circle over the years. They took the DSDP, downgraded it significantly, introduced the Dutch Aire... had that for a couple of years, dropped that altogether and re-upgraded the DSDP.
The MADP and the Essex used to be pretty similar (maybe that's why it was changed) - mine is 45' and was custom built with many of the Essex features. Newmar took that, downgraded that to 43', stripped features, changed the chassis, downgraded the engine to an ISL (Mine came with the ISM re-calibrated to 500HP), downgraded the genset, etc.
You have to take the model names with a grain of salt and combine it with the model year. If I ever go to sell mine, I don't look forward to the challenge of explaining the model ADD that someone at Newmar suffers from.
In terms of current model year, you're right - there doesn't seem to be much difference between the DSDP and MADP - both 43', both ISL 450, both have the same genset. One is highline and one isn't. I think there is a large difference between the DSDP and Ventana though.
One thing is for sure - if you make it past model confusion, you can't go wrong with Newmar customer service. They're great people who will go the extra mile for you.

All Newmars are "custom built". They don't build one till they have a firm order in hand whether it be from a customer or a dealer. The dealers might order the same rig twice, but then again, maybe not.
This is unlike almost any other manufacturer except maybe Prevost, Newell and Foretravel. Ask Fleetwood to add an outlet to one of their rigs and see what answer you get! I'm not sure if Entegra will do it either.

I assume you know what I meant... as in custom paint colors, floorplan modifications, etc. As far as I know, that was a service offered on highline coaches. Maybe they've expanded that to all Newmars.
Regardless, I think it's a great thing Newmar did/does. My comments were geared at what they've done to the product models after that - creating great confusion between model years.

I saw a Dutch-Aire at the Lake of the Ozarks last year and it looked like a Moutain-Aire. Didn't even know they made them. Looked brand new. 44FT maybe?

Thanks for your responses. We took delivery of a 2012 DSDP 4346. Starting to load stuff and hope to be in it and have the house cleaned out by sometime in April.

Thanks. We hope to head to the National Rally since it is so close to home since we'll be in SD in June.
