Just wanted to report on an easy digital TV conversion. On my 2007 KSDP the housing for the Sony 24" TV was 29 7/8" wide. At Sams Club I found a Magnavox 32" digital TV that was 29 15/16" wide and was priced at $398.00. I picked it up and was able to install it in two days (working at old retired duffer rate).
I was able to shoehorn it in the space and reused the top hanger for the old SONY (had to use 1/4" screws for the TV side because the limited clearance). Then I measured the bottom mounting holes in the Magnavox and drilled 4 holes in the bottom of the housing. Found 4 longer mounting bolts and secured the new TV.
The wood facia surround was harder to install. I removed the wood mounting pieces and replaced the lower ones with thin sheet metal pieces.(Had to use shorter screws than the ones that were used in the wood pieces). For the top I reused the two spacers that had anchored the lower part of the SONY (that I had removed before installing the new TV) and fastened them to the top hanger. Then I finally had to spend $3.88 for two industrial grade velcro pieces for the facia to spacer interface.
All electrical and signal connections switched easily and the new TV works great. The only caveat so far is when using the Surround Sound system, the TV sound control does not control the volumn.
Have a nice day - Darrel
