Direct TV

I have just had a terrible go around with Direct. Their customer service was not great in the past, but with a phone number for tech support most RV issues could be resolved fairly easily. Now that ATT is fully involved they have no one with any intelligence working customer service. Their customer service is now abysmal.
Is this their animus toward me or has any one else noticed a similar problem?

Don't use Direct, as I heard several negs about monthly rates and service. I use Dish and although I've had to call them a few times, they always get it resolved quickly. Also like their RV program product to turn on system only when I plan on using the RV and let it go "inactive" for the months I'm not using the service...

Agreed. And I’ve found great functionality in the Dish app with the ability to “wake up” receivers after I’ve had RV in storage for a bit along with the ability to change service zip code to receive local channels all without contacting customer service. Happy Dish customer here. And we were Directv customers for YEARS.

I have contacted Dish and was really given a rush sales pitch with prices quoted in about terms, however I have recently added the Winguard Traveler and mine was for direct and apparently I would have to purchase a new one for direct.

Most satellite dishes have selectable pin settings for either dish or direct. Don't know what the "rush sales pitch" was as I was looking specifically for the "month to month" program, and that is a set price until you start to add channels to it. With the basic channels and locals it runs me just about $47 per 30 day period and I've only activated it twice, this year...

That's not true. There's a conversion kit that can be purchased from Winegard. It costs a couple of hundred dollars plus installation, but it's a lot cheaper than having to buy a whole new Trav'ler

Not an entire new travler but a kit .. about 300$
You can change a directv travler to a dish travler but not the other way.

It's not just you, I feel the same way. It used to be tolerable pre ATT with an occasional hiccup, but now is just getting out of hand.

I won't release my frustrations here in this thread but suffice it to say that between off shore call centers, obvious lack of training, and now ATT's new RC1 combined billing system, having any issues with your DirecTV service is nothing but a hot mess.

If I didn't still have DirecTV at home and just installed a new DirecTV Trav'ler on the roof, I would be gone already. But if things don't improve in the near future, the hundreds of dollars it will cost me to convert my Trav'ler to Dish and purchase new receivers for the RV will quickly start looking like the better option.

I have a new DirecTV Trav'ler as well but it can be converted to Dish (reflector and LNB/arm) for 300-400 dollars vs. buying a new one at 4 times that cost.

Ran this trap two years ago. Dumped Direct after 15 plus years and went with Dish. Much happier with Dish.

RJOL The rush sales pitch from DISH was after providing all the options the price was "it will be about this much". I don't deal in about $ when dealing over the phone. Then "I will have some out tomorrow for the install". I was just pricing and apparently they don't have fixed prices. I kept being asked if that was a good price, apparently they would go lower if the price wasn't good enough. Very suspicious.
I just sold my RV lot at Lost Lake RV resort in Olympia, have two kids in
have 2 kids in "the harbor".

Thank's all for the info about the conversion kit from Direct to DISH. We had been very satisfied Direct customers for over 20 years. Looks like DISH is in my future.

Twice in two months, my ATT wireless bill was too high. The first time, it took two hours on he phone to straighten it out. Next month (which was this month) the bill was messed up again. This time, I actually got a guy that understood their system, found where the mistakes were made and straighten everything out. We'll see if next month is accurate.

I have a new coach on order, which will receive a new Winegard DirecTV sat. Glad to see, if I have to change to Dish, I can.

AT&T customer service is so frustrating. I had uverse, so went with direct at home because also had it on the RV so when it works, it's fine. But... having to deal with them is incredibly frustrating. Letters written and complaints do no good. It must be part of their tactic because you couldn't possibly do this on purpose.

I have Directv and found that by calling during normal working hours on weekdays my call is answered domestically and the service is good. I no longer call late nights or in the weekends when calls are directed to off shore call centers. Off shore call centers are frustrating at best, and a waste of my time at worst.
