Direct tv. AND antenna, DVD in the bedroom ?

I am having the Trac vision dish replaced with the Trav'ler SWM next week. We have the Wineguard distribution switch system. We bought this rig in Mar it is a. '07 KSDP 3912. I have all services on the front tv. But have never been able to get the satellite to work in the bedroom.
I noticed that our old '04 KSG. Had two coax outlets in the bedroom, this rig has only one. I want to be able to have all options in the bedroom....antenna, DVD, and Direct tv....I am upgrading to the Genie.....with only one coax outlet, must I upgrade to Genie wireless to use the coax for antenna and DVD and the wireless Genie for Direct tv? Hope not......more bucks

You are at the cross roads of new technology. All new TV's and devices support HDMI. You can still use composite but why? HD (high definition) is the norm but for some SD (standard definition) is ok. I want the clairity so HD is what I use. First lets digress in technology. The old way of connecting device was using ether composite video with the red, white and yellow RCA cables. You also had an rf modular with output on channel 3 or 4. RV took advantage of this technology and using a BOMB ( box of many buttons). Each TV in your rig could select TV or OTA ( over the air), VCR, Satellite or Aux. This was all done using coax. Over the air TV is broadcast in digital and high def. there some television station that still broadcast in standard def but it's digital and not analog. So technology had to move along also. Start thinking digital. HDMI (high definition multi-media interface). Audio and video are sent via a single cable in a digital format.

So to achieve the same connectivity. You will need to gave an hdmi cable run from your tv to your audio/video cabinet. Hopefully you have upgraded you TV to LCD or LED. I am not sure when newmar start outing in upgraded technology. They do make HDMI switches 4x2 4 inputs and 2 outputs. Some want two satellite receivers and some want one. Every this is doable but you need to come up with your entertainment design. Sound bar for great audio, DVDs one or two. Hopefully I given you some food for thought.

Hi DGBPokes,
We are in the same technology time warp. We even have similar coaches. Every time this topic comes up (for me or someone else) it makes my head hurt. There are adapters to go from coax to HDMI. Google "coax to HDMI" there will be many choices. The single coax from the BOMB to the bedroom should not be the showstopper. The installer doing the roof mount may be able to help and do the entire install. Or a visit to Radio Shack may be best.

For me, when I am dragged kicking and screaming into this decision, I'll take the simple way out and throw $s at the problem. DTV's Genie and do it wireless is what I'll do.

tv with winegard

We have been in our 'new to us' 2004 MADP (4018) since March of this yr. Winters' coming on and we're wanting the tv hooked up. The previous owner had the latest and greatest tv accessories' with it but those did not come with the unit when we bought it. I have the factory winegard as well as the 'bomb' box. All the wiring has been run.The front tv ( which is the only one in the house)is LED so all I'm receiving is a 'no signal' on the screen. We can play dvd's (HDM1) with an excellent reception. Should I be able to get the local tv channels where I am parked....through the antenna on the roof? Any input here would be greatly appreciated.
regards
