That seems to be North Trail's MO...it happened to me, too. But we told them if that was the price, we didn't want to waste their time since we were happy with our existing coach. We ended up going back and forth and finally came up with a good number. They'll do that to you too, so just go with the flow and you'll get there. But you do need to get well over 30%, in my opinion, or you'll be getting the short end of the stick, in my opinion. Now, if you don't like playing those games (and I DO NOT), you might as well try someone else. Each dealer has his preferred way of doing things...whatever works for them, I guess.

If you know the make and model you are interested in, simply google it and see what's out there. Call dealers and make offers. Don't ask them for their price. We purchased from Anceria in Alvarado, TX on Oct 10, 2014 purchasing a '13 Essex. They had significantly marked the unit down to make room for the new models, plus they gave us a great trade for our Mountain Aire.

I see what your saying, but I would think a dealer wants to give some extra discount to get a new year coach. I think they have quotas, and if they don't sell the existing coaches, their new inventory may not come in. Used Coaches are probably in a different lot as well.

Don't know about 10%, but I have had people PM with 4-8 more on leftover models.

On a new 2014 carry over, I would think you could get between 30- 35% depending on the model - the high end coaches will have more hard $$$$$ margin in them & therefore more room for the dealer to give you a bigger % discount.

Good luck
Perfect example, capt Bill! I don't think anyone has gotten 31% on a current year coach, so you got at least 3-5% as a "leftover".

Keep me posted please, I live 20 mins from North Trails in FT Lauderdale, they will definitely be on my short list of dealers once I am ready to purchase next year.

For me, North Trail has left kind of a bad taste in my mouth so I don't think I'm real interested in hassling with someone who has to give me a crazy high number and expecting me to bite on it. Getting ripped off is not one of favorite things. Also North Trail's slamming of Entegra with what was just plain BS didn't add to my love of the dealership.

For us, we'll see what RVOne will do on a 2015 DS and also see what the new Entegra Anthem 44F is like before we jump at anything else. Anything we do will still be predicated on our twins college choices to some extent.....of course if we are presented with the proverbial deal of a lifetime, well, then we may do something sooner. How's that for optimism!

We just bought from North Trail. They had a 2014 Bay Star 3103 that had everything we wanted, and a couple options I was going to pass on due to cost. I called and got the information on the coach, and started the process of negotiating what we feel was a good price. There were no head games played. I had called RV One and got a price for basically a stripped down 2015. I then found this 2014 with all the new features of the 2015 that were added as options on the 2014. Of course the heavier frame, and the 22.5 wheels aren't there, but everything else is.

We flew down Friday and had a good buying experience. They treated us fairly, and honestly. The couple of issues that we found were fixed straight away. Everybody want to get the best deal they can. Some people want things given to them. Lets get real for a second. They are there to sell a product. Are you ever going to get them to lose money on the sale? probably no. They need to make some money to cover things, that unless you are in business, probably haven't thought about (overhead). Good luck getting the deal of the century!!!

I have been talking to RVOne about a 2014 DS. Their best price is 26.8% less than MSRP and a decent price on my trade.

Still waiting to hear from two other dealers on their similar 2014 DS and trade numbers.

Thumbs down

Buying a left over is not something I would do, the discount doesn't equal the depreciated value.

If it was stolen or wrecked, you will get the value of year old not new left over you would lose easy 10%,

Also if you don't intend to keep it at least 5 years again the depreciation will take a big bite.

At37% off it may make sense, but they won't likely sell at that price there are too many buyers that don't get it the depreciation idea and will pay more than they should.

lastly what features aren't you getting in the newer year

This is the point i am at in my thinking. Of the dealers I have talked to I can only get them a hair over 25%. That is the same percentage I could get on a 2015 and it would be a current year coach.

Totally agree, someone will eventually walk in and pay too much. Last yr a dealer up here had a 2011 MADP. I was interested in trading and thought I would pay $85K to $100K difference. He wanted $185K! It had a FL chassis so I did not pursue. He has a 2012 MADP in stock... probably won't even bother trying on that one. Prefer to buy used, makes more sense, to me anyways.

I think because Newmar gets paid as soon as the coach leaves, dealers are reluctant to sell at near loss, so they wait until they get the right "buyer".

I've found the same ridiculously low discount when trying to buy a leftover model year car. Reason is...NO dealer wants to show a loss on any model moved through their system. They know some fool? Will alays come along, wanting to think they'll deal on a leftover and end up taking just a tiny additional discount over what he could get on a new year model. So the baseline max. discount is about the initial markup...approx. 38-40%? I've heard of people getting, maybe in the high 30's on a multi-month old leftover, but there's usually a reason it's still on the lot....pink exterior, checkered couch, etc.
