DIY A/C clutch remove replace?

last trip 800 miles from home A/C clutch failed.very noisey,but made it home OK.Question is how do you go about removing and replacing it?

Are you sure it is the clutch and not the compressor? There are some special tools for removing the clutch and it may not be worth the expense of trying a DIY job.

The only A/C clutch I've replaced was on a York Compressor. Simply remove the single bolt holding the electric clutch and pulley to the shaft then tap the clutch off. the shaft is tapered so sometimes the clutch will stick on the shaft.
Having said all that I would suspect the compressor itself rather than the clutch.
