I thought my radio just had a power issue in that the green face no longer lit up and the radio was completely inoperable. I just noticed that when I turned the running lights on, the light in the radio came on with the exception of the green digital readout. I now assume that the unit is getting power and I need to buy a new radio. Its only 4 years old and rarely used. It this typical of a Jensen? Do I need special tools or can I do it myself?

I've had mine in/out a couple of times. Wasn't too difficult. If yours is like mine you may be surprised to find that it's not being held in place by much.

I would check wiring and fuses before I looked at a new radio but the symptoms you describe could be any number of issues. Make sure your connectors on the back are tight, I have had them come loose from vibration.

Hi D in Davie,
The first step is to carefully remove the radio and check for power. There may be two sources (wires) for power. One wire powers the radio when it is on and the other is the "keep alive" power when it is off. You'll need a meter and be comfortable with measuring for 12 VDC. If you have the owner's manual, it should have an installation diagram showing what wires do what. Even if you do not have the manual. check the wires for 12 VDC. If there is no power then the fault is in the coach. If there is power, the fault is in the radio.

Denis:
Mine did that after I changed out the batteries. To restore all factory settings, press and hold the MOD button until "EEP INIT" appears in the display. It fixed mine.
