Dometic 2 door fridge light inoperative
My fridge light inconsistently goes off and on. Does anyone know how to take the cover off to get to the switch? I checked the bulb, it worked fine, then it went out. Put a new one in and it worked for days and now the switch stopped working again. The bulb is still good, however. I'm thinking the internal switch is bad or needs adjustment because when I worked it a few times ago it would come on from time to time. I don't see any screws to remove the cover so I can see the switch. Any suggestions would be helpful. Here are a couple of pics of the cover where the switch is located. Thanks in advance. PS: I did spray some WD40 on it and that seemed to help for awhile, then it just stopped working all together.

Assuming the fridge is working (That it is getting 12 volts) the suspects are:
1: Lamp burned out
2: Switch bad
3: Wire lead disonncected
4: Blown fuse on the control board (There are 2 or 3 of them, one feeds the light as I recall).

To get the cover off you'll need to pinch either the sides or the far end in. Then the cover should pull down and off.
From there you should be able to find the screws to remove and disassemble for cleaning.
Don't forget after you clean the switch contacts to add a little dielectric grease, it'll help keep it from gumming back up.

Fridge light switch removal
The cover ( not the clear plastic cover where the bulb is located) has four nylon pins on each corner that attaches the unit to the fridge shelf. They are not a screw or hex. I can't seem to figure out just what they are. It appears that they are nylon pins that are pushed into the holes to hold the unit up. How do I remove them or the unit? I don't want to damage anything. Please see my attached photo with the pins circled.

I pushed the pins up inside then removed the rivits. I lost a couple of the pins up inside the fridge so I made a couple of new ones from an ink pen refill. Worked great.

Yes, you just push the center in to remove. Some you only have to push them 1/2 to 3/4 of the way.
Once out pull the center pin all the way out, then start back in from the head. After you push the main body back in, then push the center pin in to lock in place.

Thanks, finally got the cover off so I could examine the switch. It was sticking so I sprayed it with a little lubricant. so far so good. I think it might have fixed it for good. Thanks for the help everyone.

Glad to hear.
Were they plain ol' push pins or were they a two part pin?

They must have been two part, because I lost all four of them up into the fridge. I'm trying t find something to insert up into the pins to make the unit more secure, but haven't found anything yet. However, it seems to be quite secure without pins. I guess I pushed them up to high. The light is still working today. It hasn't skipped a beat yet. One poster said to use the ink cartridge from a ball point pen to use as pins.
