Dometic dual zone thermostat issues

Need help, I know this is most likely operator error but cannot figure this thermostat out. Bought used but have read the manual and still am having issues. First trip to Arizona could not get the rear air to work, read manual and got it work, then went on a three week trip thru Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and all worked well. Just went for a short trip to the desert and needed a/c during the day and heat at night, I could not get the rear air to cool (it ran but no cool air, so that could be a separate situation) and I could not even find heat on the thermostat, either heat pumps from the roof units or from furnace to even turn them on. Not sure if previous owner has it set somehow, or it's got issue or operator error. Is there a replacement that may be easier to operate? BAYSTAR 3209 2013. Really feel stupid on this one, wife is looking at me that way!

Thank for any help on this. Jeff

With most of the shorter coaches the furnace will be on zone 1 only. Both zones should have heat pump heat mode if you have heat pumps. Sorry I can't help with the no cool issue. Newmar Customer service is normally very helpful in these situations, I'd give them a call, 1-800-731-8300.

If you have the comfort control panel to set the temp. The top button sets the mode cool, heat, heater, Cool= air, heat=heat exchanger, heater=furnace

Disconnect shore power and turn the batteries off for a few minutes to allow the system to reset.
What model is the thermostat??? You should be able to find the manual online.

If your thermostat is the Dometic 5 button style try the following:

Be sure it is turned on
Push ZONE to select zone 1 (small 1 at bottom of display will flash)
Push MODE for choice of cool, heat (heat Pump), furnace or off ( on zone 1)
Push UP/DOWN button to adjust desired temp
Push Zone again to select zone 2 (look for flashing 2)
Push MODE to select cool, heat or off
Push UP/DOWN button to adjust desired temp

Note: If in zone 1 furnace operation you can push the zone 2 Mode until off is displayed.

Hope that helps

Cheers

A. If you're upgrading from the four button thermostat, many coaches require a different wiring harness for this new thermo.
B. Each roof unit has a control board that has a bank of dip switches which may well need to be changed for the new thermo.
C. Did you do a reset on the unit before using?
1. Turn the power switch off (on the bottom).
2. Hold the Zone and Mode buttons simultaneously.
3. While holding the buttons, turn the power switch on.
4. Release the buttons. Should see letters "FF" on the screen. This indicates proper configuration.

Jeff,
Also make sure the zones are not mismatched. Zone 1 on cool and zone 2 on heat pump for example would be a mismatch. A mismatch of settings may interfere with operation in either zone.

If you find a solution let us know. That helps others that have similar problems.

Best of luck.

Domestic thermostat

Thank you guys for your input. My thermostat has 10 buttons. No dehumidifier.
I will have to do some more reading. Thanks YC1 for taking the time to download the manual. I will do more reading and get back if I find a solution, I would think I could outsmart it but ????

Jeff
