Dometic Recall Explained To Newmar Owners

Hi Everyone,
Newmar asked Dometic and Norcold to explain their recalls to Newmar Owners. As of this date, Norcold has not responded. The Dometic response can be read at Dometic Recall Information | Newmar Motorhome & RV Blog . The request was for a where we were, where are we now and where are we going type of narrative.

I had the recall done at Newmar back in 2nd week of Nov 2010. 30 min fix. Put some relay on the back side. They had plenty of kits back then. Norcold 1200RLIM

I always found Dometic to be up front with their recalls which I had use of in my previous two Newmars.
When I purchased my present Newmar KS it came with the 1200 Norcold which had some problem from the start dealer wanted to pull through windshield and replace with Dometic.
It didn't happen and the 1200 has served us well for past 8 years.
Than the recalls started and I could not get information from NORCOLD as to will the first recall I had done would make everything safe to go well I now need a second recall so now I must have my answer.
When my fridge was inspected at Newmar for first recall the area with concern for now second recall, passed without any doughts of future problems.
Instead of getting a second recall will be changing out the cooling unit with a better built and improved unit which with the box will provide service as it always has without the worry of what if.
I was apprehensive about Norcolds because they had problems with smaller size units and they always seemed to be on a recall.

Thanks GaryKD for this explanation - read the Blog and wondered why it did not address the Norcold situation...now I know
