I'm going to post this in the Newmar Forum but if an administrator thinks it should be moved to the RV Systems & Appliances section, go for it.

We have a constant battle keeping the freezer doors closed on this refrigerator. It seems as if the magnetic gaskets don't grab as well as I think they should. I came out this AM and the right-hand door was standing open. And I know it wasn't that way when we went to bed. And no, the cats didn't open it! The gasket surfaces are clean as is the mating surface on the reefer box.

Anybody have any ideas?

Your right hand door has water and ice dispenser is anything on door inside chafing to sidewalls of opening?
Also you can trap air in compartment when closing and may not escape when closing causing door to pop open.
Some doors have a locking pin that slides to hold door while traveling.

Hi 007 - no joy I checked all that. The lock pins will keep the doors closed that is true, but it feels to me that although they can't open, they really aren't sealed well either.

The picture you posted is of the RM 1350 Elite. Ours is the plain RM 1350. We have no thru-the-door ice, just water. And the dispenser is on the lower left door, not upper right. Don't think it matters tho'; just to clarify.

Magnetic seals are good, when they contact they are sealed

However.

If the problem is ONLY in motion, lock pins work well

If the problem is all the time.. Then I would suggest a secondary latch.. I had one, years ago, got it at Camping World, but do not find it in the current catalog

The one I had was plastic, bolted to the frigde and had a "Finger" that latched the door closed. I used this when parked, and the pin when moving.

Are the doors warped or bent?

Did you try the dollar bill test all the way around the seals?

I don't think they are warped and no I haven't tried the dollar bill test (I haven't seen a dollar in a while )

Good suggestions Dirk, I'll try them tomorrow.

One of your $100 bills will work also.

Not yet Dirk. We've both been poorly and I haven't been inclined to do any troubleshooting. Soon I hope.

Took Dirks advice & ran the dollar bill test. It grabs in less than half of the door frame circumference.

Now I gotta figure out how to adjust these doors.

I believe a little tweak/twist by brute force may work unless it's along the hinge side, then hopefully there's a hinge adjustment.
