Dometic Royal fridge

I have a 1999 Mountain Aire 40’ pusher. The dometic fridge Mod # RM 3862 and the serial # 84003005 has been plunged in And operating in the AC mode. Haven’t been it in for 2 weeks and now I noticed the fridge isn’t working on gas or AC. Any ideas???????
Thanks

Star5 with the basics. First, check for power at the outlet where the refrigerator is plugged in. If you have power, check the fuses located on the back of the refrigerator.

Do you have the battery disconnect on and battery a 12.6 volts ?

The fridge need 12 volt power to operate, even on 120 volt service.

Verify you have 12V DC Voltage at terminal block in outside compartment

Got 12VDC there...then need to remove control module cover and verify 3A fuse (F1 ) is not blown. It is for ALL DC controls....need for fridge to function on AC or GAS

I assume that the boiler is working on both propane and 110 volts. If you can see a flame, this is a good sign..

The large diameter ducting on the right side is getting warm/hot, and you should be able to see the small flame when you are on propane...

Are you level??

Make sure there are no bird nests up above the frig where it vents out through the roof.

If all this tests OK, you are SOL.. If you don't have any signs of leaks (ammonia odor), the tubing may be plugged internally. Some people have had success by literally turning the frig upside down. This sloshes the ammonia around and can clear tubing if its plugged.

You do have it set to "AUTO" don't you? As I recall, this refrigerator has three settings: AUTO, Gas, and AC.

For it to automatically switch over to AC when you're plugged into AC power, that switch must be in the AUTO position.

No leaks. I will check for a birds nest but shouldn’t the fridg work on ac even if there is a nest in the vent? It is in the auto mode. Think my wife might have left the door Open after we returned from last trip. Wish there was a reset button somewhere. Oh well guess I’ll look into a new fridge.

Before you do that, take it to a good RV tech. If you don't have any leaks, then the problem could be the PC board. The original Dometic PC boards are notorious for failing.

When we bought our used Chinook, the refrigerator only worked on AC, not gas or 12v. The dealer installed a "Dinosaur Board" and it's worked ever since.

The Dinosaur board is a replacement PC board made by a little company in Oregon that specializes in replacement PC boards for RV refrigerators. I think that's all they make.

Their customer service is excellent and if you call them, they can probably talk you through some tests and determine if your PC board has died. I highly recommend trying them -- or having your local RV service place contact them.
