Howdy folks,

Seems like I have another brain teaser; this time a door awning.

2009 Newmar Ventana 3393.

There is a wall switch that should extend/retract the small awning over the door. Unfortunately that switch will not extend the door awning. The only way to extend that awning is with the key fob

The wall switch will retract the awning once it is extended as will the key fob.

OK..I figure it must be the wall rocker switch....easy fix. NOT SO FAST.

First I pulled the wall switch and reversed the IN/OUT leads just to confirm that the extend side of the switch was bad. BUT...now the OUT side will retract but I still can't extend with the IN side of the switch.

Then I tried what appears to be an identical switch for the big awning. As with the orginal wall switch (properly wired) I can retract but I can't extend.

Uh oh...That seems to only leave the control box as the culprit.

I tried calling Dometic but the friendly young girl who took the call seemed surprised they made awnings. But she was able to send me the attached PDF of the system. Other than that....nada

I am afraid to think what a new box would cost so I am looking for some advise here.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Norm

Looking at your PDF it requires you to hold button for three sec. or until awning is extended or retrack.
If you do not it will stop where you have released it.

Yup..tis true but the problem is that it won't extend at all using the inside button.

I had another thought. Maybe the wire that sends the extend signal might have a "Cold Soder" joint; bad crimp or something at one end or the other.

Thanks
Norm
