Yesterday, in breezy weather, my door awning came loose and fell off, and it wasn't that windy, as the other awnings were OK.

A gust of wind lifted it up and out of the awning rail, and it fell, bouncing off the side of the coach, swinging until the wires broke and it hit the ground.

The coach sidewall is scratched, and may need to be repainted.

The door awning hangs from a awning rail base plate, and is screwed to the base plate.

My awning had only 2 screws, and 1 was sheared off, the other just pulled out.

It looks like it wasn't installed properly at the factory.

It's always something.

The strangest coincidence is that I was on the phone with Bob Gregory when it happened. I wonder if that had something to do with it?

This ain't no April Fools joke either...

After I found out everybody was ok and that Dirk was in a decent frame of mind I almost had a hernia from laughing!!

I heard this KLUNK and then Dirk started muttering some untelligible words and then someone knocked on his door.
At least he has nice neighbors!!

And then he had the audacity to BLAME ME for it...the NERVE!!

Just spoke to Dirk and made plans to hang out with him at the Lazy Days Rally Park for a few days....When I called and made reservations I specifically asked for a site one or two away from his as ya never know what ELSE might fall off that rig....

Actually since I was 45' they HAD to put me down the road a bit, but on the same road...

Sounds like there's a big Freightliner Chassis Rally going on, I guess Dirk and I can show those boys what a REAL chassis looks like!!

Now, how many folks keep their door awning in the basement?

I'm busy figuring out how much the MPG increased with the reduction in wind resistance.

I hope Bob's not going to bring more bad luck when he gets here. Look what happened just over the phone!

Funny coincidence, Road Pilot and I are sitting here in Nappanee, tail to tail, in a gusty wind - albeit not as gusty/windy as yesterday. Both our coaches just got back from having the first of four days of warranty work done, and I saw his forward, main, awning extended. Thought it was funny that he would put it out and shortly after that, Ken Miller and his brother drove up. They got the awning in - not sure why it went out on its own - but will check into the cause tomorrow while in the shop. Needless to say, Dick didn't put it out on purpose. He said he and Jean were sitting in the coach and heard a sound and said what's that? Then they saw the awning extending. He couldn't get it to retract so called Ken and he came and got it in. Guess we're in the right place for weird stuff like that to happen.

70's here yesterday, forecast to snow on Wednesday and Thursday - come on back Bob, you love it here when it snows!

SSSSSSSSSSS........now?

Gosh, I've made Jason do everything but sign a statement in his blood that it won't snow in June.

Be sure and tell Ken and his brother Nevin hello from all of us!!

Dick, Things don't sound good in Hootersville. Now you are at Newmar things will improve. It seems when things go to h*ll in a hand cart it's usually when you can't get any help. Well....Hello, you're at Newmar, what better place to have it happen. Hopefully you can now get most issues taken care of for good. Best of luck Dick.

Hi King! Very strange story. Hope all is well with you. Let us know how you make out with all your work. Tell Dick and Jean we are sorry we missed them before we left Pelican Lake. One of the nicest couples we have been out with. We will see them soon , we hope. Good luck with all of your work. Paul

Everything seems to be secure, but there is a wee bit of hydraulic fluid leaking out of the HWH system, and it makes a funny noise sometimes when leveling. Lazy Days can't look at it until the 12th, but I'll be long gone.

You would make an excellent trapshooter, and I have a loaner gun for you to use. We'll have to get you out to the trap field one of these days.

What about Grey Goose? Are you into that?
