Went to the MH just before dark to show (should read show-off to) my nephew. In the process I ran the electric awnings out. After the show I hit the button for the side awning ... in it comes. I hit the button for the door awning .... the awning does not move but I can hear a motor spinning. I can push in on the cover and it will try to roll up. Let go of the cover and the arms will push the awning back out. This is on a 06 Newmar Ventana. Any ideas?

If it is an A&E Oasis awning, this topic has been discussed by me and others. Do a search on the forum.

Thanks for the comment but I did a search and looked through 22 pages of door awning post before I posted. Most were either awning fell off, would not open, no motor operation or drill a hole. Mine is .... I hear a motor spinning but it will not roll up the awning.

For those that have had a drive gear failure in their Oasis door awning.... could you just replace the gear or was the gear part of the motor and you replace the motor with new gear? I am having trouble locating diagrams and parts list for this thing. I do have the installation & operating instructions.

Got around to taking stuff apart tonight. Motor, gears and shaft are fine. The problem is in the end of the fabric roller. The motor shaft is round with one flat side. The mating flat side on the roller has rounded out. So it looks like I will be calling to see what parts I will have to order. Thanks for the PPL info.

What kind of warranty does the owning have? Is it possible the awning itself is still under warranty? If so, the manufacturer may very well send you the parts for nothing.

Just my 2 cents, which at todays values isn't worth a thing.

It's on a 2006 Ventana that we recently purchased used. I have sent an email to Dometic to ask for a part number. Warranty was not asked about or implied in the email. I am just hoping for a reply.

Just a follow up ..... Dometic and Newmar did reply to my email with a phone number to call. I decided to take GaryKD's advice and call PPL. They sent a email with a parts list, I picked out the part that I needed, $100.00 and a week later I had the exact part I needed. This weekend we got everything put back together and remounted on the motor home. Everything works like new, just in time for our Thanksgiving trip to Tn.
