My screws are as you described. Three of them and they do look like they have been exposed to salt water.

The wedge is worn where the locking cylinder would rub upon opening the door. I suppose that it not good as this would lessen the effect of the tightening of the door. However, I have no road noise on the door.

The screws are very strong and most likely will not break. I imagine PTL used nylon to construct the wedge so it fails first to avoid damaging the slider mechanism. You must have a torx socket to remove the 3 screws. I have replaced wedges several times at rest stops in just 5 minutes. Sometimes they just crack while driving. I would suggest carrying an extra wedge when you travel. They are inexpensive if purchased from PTL. If you buy them from your dealer, who buys them from Newmar, it could cost you over $40.

The locking cylinder roller can't physically touch the wedge if you have parking brake ON before opening door.
