Door Latch

Entry door would not fully close.

Inspected where latch engages with striker (bolt).

Striker had loosened and moved downward.

Hand tightened, moved striker until door closed properly.

Marked base of striker relative to door jamb, applied a few drops of

tightened striker with socket and wrench.

That "bolt" is supposed to move up and down a little.

If so, the bolt had moved down far enough to strike the bottom of the catch mechanism, bringing the door to a sudden stop.

When adjusted properly, the bolt hits the rotating catch 'in the throat'' pushing the catch up and over.
