My hood release on my 2007 KSDP was extrememly hard to release. In looking carefully at the latch mechanism I noticed a "scrubbed" mark on the retaining bolt/post. The release cable was mounted so that it wrapped around that post when the hood was in the latched position. I was able to move the cable on the latch end to the top part of the latch lever and adjust the retainer clip slightly til it cleared the top of the post and voila - it unlatches smoothly now.

Have a nice day - Darrel

Darrel-

The hood-end of the cable is "Z" shaped. I found that it was a good idea to unhook it temporarily and shoot it good with silicone so that it doesn't sieze up.

It is a good idea to have someone outside that can push against the hood, while the release cable is pulled. My wife pulls the release while I push a bit against the hood.
I read about doing that a few years ago. It seems to open easier and less chance of breaking the cable. If the cable breaks it is difficult to get up inside to unlatch the hood.
