Smile Drain pipe connection for 2016 Dutch Star

On our first trip out, 150 miles from home, found out there seemed to be an extension built on the drain pipe. Unfortunately this makes hook ups impossible. A 90 degree and a 45 degree 3" pipe won't fit through the hole so I can attach the sewer line. Fixes appreciated.

"mmrauch".....You're use of a 90 degree and a 45 degree extension make me wonder if you're aware that the drain pipe can be rotated by hand up or down. It's not glued into place, it's designed to rotate.

Dutch Star Don has it right, just grab the end where the hose connects and rotate it down or up so the hose fits.

Yep, that rotation will get you. It took us a few trips to realize we could rotate the outlet. With a 90deg elbow, we have no issues at all.

I installed a clear elbo to the pipe and rotate up or down to attach drain hose. Know when flush is no loger needed by what comes out.

I'm not surprised it does NOT work. My '08 DS the drain outlet was perfectly setup to use a 90* fitting to hook the black hose to. Now my '14 DS is a joke. And a bad one at that.

I can not hook any combination of 45* / 90* elbows to get an end thru the hole in the bottom of the bay. The problem was generated at Newmar. Either the black pipe system is mis-located towards the outside of the coach or the "Y" connector that the tab end is glued to is too long.

I purchased a 24" flex hose that I wrap around then into the hole to connect the main hose to. I have a couple of different ideas to fix t right. I just need get back on my feet.

Good Luck

"JohnT"......They make a larger plate. I know that's not what you want to hear, but you could enlarge the hole and add the larger cover plate.

You do realize it rotates so that you can align a 90 deg elbow with the hole?

For some reason it seems that lots of dealers never show the buyer that the outlet rotates to align with the hole.

But even with it rotated a 45* doesn't work and neither does a straight pipe. I think you need a very "short" 90 degree.

In our '02 DSDP the pipe rotated down just fine and I could use a straight fitting with a bend in the slinky. Worked fine for the 13 years we had the rig. I also found that the Blue Line were the only fittings that would go into the hose carrier tube.

I'm tellin you guys......add the SaniCon system and you'll never mess with having to take a hose on and off again. With the SaniCon, the hose stays attached and the only rinsing you do is to follow the black water with the grey water. You cap the end of the hose and stuff the hose back into the water bay. The SaniCon hose even fits in that cut out for the water hose, so no dealing with the hole in the floor. Slide it in the cutout and close the bay door.

Thanks for adding the picture. I've deleted mine.

Please locate the shadow that the elbow is making on the outside edge of the opening in the floor. WHEN I ROTATE MINE DOWN it contacts that same location as the shadow. I have the shortest 90* I could find.

The option to install a larger plate and cap is hindered by the frame that runs the length of the coach under the basement floor. The current opening is drilled right to the edge of that frame piece.
