A friend that is just picking up a used Essex called me. He said the drivers window, the forward double pane one and the door thermo glass is foggy due to a leak in the seal. The dealer said they could send it out for repair. Is this the way they are normally handled? That is, can they be repaired as opposed to being replaced?
I've never run into any issues like this, so I need someone's info that has.

Thanking you in advance.

Peter

I have read they can be repaired at many window shops. I also read they are very expensive to repair.

I've heard vague stories about a few successful repairs but not sure I believe them. I'd certainly opt for replacement.

There are many videos on youtube.com that show the procedure on all kinds of thermo pane windows from RVs to businesses. I think it must be less expensive than a replacement or people would not do it. Use the search engine on youtube and you will be able to see exactly what they do. Joe

who can fix foggy windows

This is a frequently discussed topic. We used Suncoast Designers in Hudson FL and we are very satisfied. Believe it. Their lot was chock full of happy customers.

Do they do the plexi ones. or the glass thermal double panes? These are the double glass ones Newmar uses on the driver's and on the doorside.

Mine's fogged on front door and the small window in front of it. I believe Newmar gets $900 for the glass. I just don't look out that side.

Newmar wants $1100.00 just for the drivers glass, not including labor or shipping. I'm going to try Suncoastdesigners.com when I get home as both drivers window & door window have fogged over. Sounds like there is a pattern forming here.

I was recently in Bend Oregon and a glass repair person was taking care of the fogged drivers side window. Took him a couple of hours...he told me the cost of repair was about 1/3 the cost to replace and one was assured that the window fit poperly as it was the original. The customer was satisfied when I asked the following day.

I had my drivers window repaired under warranty and it was quite a job. The upper cabinet above drivers seat is in the way and has to have the interior dismantled to get to the screws. The dealer did a good job except for the wood work which we had Newmar factory service finish. Newmar might warranty this because it is a known issue. If not warranty and you can fix it without removal of the whole window that would be the way to go.
My fire exit windows in the bedroom and living room are now showing signs of fog. I think they will just require parts.

Thanks, Daryl

They do glass, and lots of it from what we saw. I think the drivers side glass with three panels was $250. Regular two panel window assemblies were $200. Do a search for "foggy windows" you will get many hits with good information.

Please let us know about double "pain" plexi ones. What is that?

I had an odd shaped window in the bedroom that fogged up. It ended up costing me $1300 to have it replaced. I've had three Atwood windows replaced so far. I hope that someone starts defogging windows in our area! Joe

Peter we will have our fixed by Suncoast Designers in Hudson FL. We have an appointment for Nov 2. We were quoted a price of 250.00 to fix the window and it comes with a 5 year repair warranty. Will post results. I think atwood makes the window. I don't know of too many people who have Essex or MA who have not had this problem. Ours had 2 inches of water standing in the bottom. BTW if Newmar fixes under warranty it is either 90 days or until you normal warranty runs expires. Our second window fogged up 6 months after replacement.
