We have a 2006 Dutch Star with the new mirror design...they are mounted higher, and hang down from the mounting arm. Under most viewing conditions, from the drivers chair, wnen I look at the driver side mirror I see a reflection of cars that are on the passenger (door) side of the coach. These cars, or buildings, or trucks are more apparent than the traffic I am trying to view on the drivers side of the coach. If the sun is behind me it is even worse. Nightime also poses the same optical illusion, with the same difficulty viewing the cars behind and to my left side. I do not have any trouble seeing out of the passenger (door) side mirror at any time. I have moved the mirror assembly as far forward and aft as possible, also tilting the mirror down and up and I cannot eliminate this vexing problem. I did not have this trouble with my previous Kountry Star. Its mirrors were mounted lower, in the dame fashion as all the other Newmar coaches.

Any suggestions?

This was a concern of mine also for the '07's. Is it possible to swing the mirror arm forward so as to position it visible and usable through the upper left of the windshield?

No, the frame of the coach blocks the view. The arm on the driver side is shorter than the passenber side.

I wonder if the arm piece on the passenger size could also be fitted on the driver side.
I agree with your issue. I drove an '07 and, although I could see with it fine, I found it ackward looking sideways and up.

Can you get and use the same arm on the pass mirror, would that help the drivers side.

Peter and Roger....I don't see why one couldn't change the arm to the longer "street side" arm....You can bet before I leave Howard RV we're gonna be checkin' that one out....If it looks like I might like the longer arm I'll just order it and have it shipped to the house.

The mirror brackets should be the same on both sides....

Adding here.... When we were at dealer picking up the MADP,we both noticed the street side arm was waaay forward....That's one thing Jeff talked about moving,as the arm being so forward takes most of the "left to right" adjustment out of the electric mirror...

You would just have to watch those trucks coming by on your left if you adjust outword.

Bob, Hopefully it would be that easy. The left one might have a shorter wiring harness (for moving and heat)

I may have finally figured it out. There appears to be a reflection off the curve in the front windshield that shows up on the driver side window, so that I am looking through the reflected image when I look in the drivers outside rear view miror. A piece of opaque material, when placed at a 45 degree angle (ie with the edge pointing directly at me) blocks the reflection and enables completely normal viewing of the rear view mirror. Now I need to figure how to mount a slender, rigid piece of material in the corner of the chassis, between the driver glass window and the windshield.
Thank you for the input.

If that seems like the answer, here may be one solution.

Purchase one of those clear plexi leaflet display stands. They are clear plastic stands that normally sit on a table slanting back slightly with a double wall to allow a leaflet to be inserted for display. The stands are available from suppliers dealing with retail trade.

The stand is made for standard 8.5" x 11" paper. Cut the heigth from the 11" down to about 4 or 5". Position the foot of the stand on the viewed front leading edge of the outside mirror. Insert a piece of colored paper (matching an interior color in the coach) into the cut down stand. Have someone hold it and observe if it blocks the reflection. If so use silicone to attach the base to the glass.

It may meet what you are looking for and look reasonable too.
