DS 4018 Front Axle Weight (loaded)

I need to place an order and I can't find my notes on my front axle weight (loaded for travel). I just need to be in the ball park. I had it weighed when new, but can't find the weigh sheet or have time to weigh it before our next trip.

Thanks

Don

My 2016 Dutch Star 4018 weighed 14,155 on the front axle, loaded for full-time living, including full fuel, full water and empty gray and black tanks.

That was on June 10 at the Newmar factory on my way out the door.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys.....that's what I was looking for. I knew mine was close to 13K, maybe just a little under. Old age had me thinking it was 11K , then 12K....just couldn't remember.

Don,

Last trip we hit the ODOT scales the front was 13950. Two pax, 3/4 fuel, full propane, 1/3 black, 1/3 grey and 2/3 fresh. Basement cramed full of stuff.

I'm popping for some Road King shocks and I needed to know an approximate weight so that they are set up correctly. I'm just not happy with the jarring ride of the coach, especially here in California. They're expensive and they may be no better than the Koni's I installed, but I'm going to take a chance.

Anxious to hear how they work out Don, our front end delivers a pretty rough ride. Not completely unexpected with the more than 100 psi I'm running in these 305/70 R22.5 Michelin's.

I have the 2017 Rand McNally motor carriers road atlas. It has 6 of the Canadian provinces with steering axle weight limits of 5500kg or 12,125 pounds.

I sure see an awful lot of big pushers up there though. But I can't find any relief for motorhomes, at least in the RM atlas.

Bill:

You may find the attached document of some use. RV's are spec'ed in section 8, pg 26.

The document is not clear however, if the limits are based on the actual axle weights while under way or are they the GAWR of each axle.

It's certainly disappointing to hear the DSDP has a rough ride. I would really expect a good ride out of a DP at this level. I'm coming from a F53 chassis gasser so I'm sure it'll be better, but I'm expecting a great ride.

Your coach likely will have a better ride up front due to the increased tire size. "Rough" is relevant and subjective. 98% of the time I feel like I'm driving my living room. The other 2% is related to poor road conditions.

You're going to love your new Dutch Star!

"TJ"....We live in California with probably the worse roads in the country. It doesn't matter what RV you buy.....when you have potholes the size of basketballs, you start looking for some help with better shocks.

I hear you. I'm in Palo Alto, CA. I'm picking the DSDP up from Tom in Moorpark actually.
