Finalizing our options on our 2017 DS and looking for feedback on the
Heated Floor- is the temp adjustable, has anyone had any issues, does it
really heat up entire coach, we don't like throw rugs

Power Remote Shades - anyone had issues with these, if so can you switch
to a manual mode
Thanks for your help

Power shades

No experience with these. However, when we did our PDI, the service department manager was very negative about the power shade motors. This squares with the comments on the Entegra Forum over the past 2 years. Entegra owners seemed to be ordering the motors by the case...an exaggeration, but not by much.

I think they would be very convenient if motor failure was not a distinct problem.

I think the Entegra motors were a different brand not MCD. Entegra as of last year or this year has gone to MCD shade motors. What service dept manager? Newmar in Nappanee manager?

Have not read about failures in a thread on the Newmar forum but maybe I need to do a search>

Our 2016 DS 4018 has both options.

We love the heated floors. Set on the low setting, they have warmed the floors and the coach with temps in the low 50's. Haven't been in colder temps...yet. We use non-rubber backed rugs in every room.

Our MCD shades work well, but in 90 days, we've had a windshield night shade and a side window night shade motor replaced. Not a great track record. Programming takes some getting used to, but other than that and our early failures, we like them.

Our 2015 DSDP 4369 has both options.

Heated Floors - we love 'em. An expensive, "unnecessary" option, but we wouldn't be without them. We have spent maybe 20 nights in the 30s and a few in the 20s (last week at Crater Lake). While we've used the Oasis heat to ensure it works, most of these "cold" nights we've used only the heated floors. Once they're on about an hour, they provide an even, radiant heat that does heat the entire coach. Each zone is controlled by a High-Med-Low switch, which is a timer, not a thermostat. In our 43' DSDP, there are three independent zones, front salon, kitchen & half bath, bedroom & rear bath. We only use throw rugs in the rear bath - a shower mat and rug on the engine hatch - it's not heated & it gets cold!! While on and heating, each zone draws just 5 amps - not bad. Initially we had a problem with the floors not staying on, apparently shutting themselves off. Newmar flashed the KIB controller box with the latest firmware, and we've had no problems since. Highly recommended.

Our coach has 25 powered MCD shades, 13 night and 12 day shades. We had one shade motor go out, and we worked with MCD to troubleshoot the problem. We had it replaced at our dealer, while traveling through Minnesota. There is no manual mode, but we easily removed the shade. Despite one failure, we feel they're reliable, as we use most of them every day. Also highly recommended.

Our DS 4018 will be 1 year old next month. We have both the heated floors and electric shades. No problem with the shades work well and we are glad we have them.

We had the dealer change the remote control buttons around a little so we could operate the door shade by itself. When we got the coach the door and passenger night shade would operate together.

We think that the heated floors are a must have. With these floors we don't have to run ANY heater unless it gets very cold.
