DS passenger foot rest

My passenger foot rest does not want to retract as tight as the driver foot rest. Is there an adjustment to this? The screw seems to retract to the end. See photo below, you can push it in some after the electrical retraction but it is still protruding compared to the driver seat. Newmar said no adjustment. Click image for larger version

I would check that the drive motor is tight. It could be loose, giving you that slack, especially if you can push it in. Something has come loose.

Our ds foot rest had a similar issue where it would not retract completely. By that I mean it would stick out maybe 1/4" to 1/2". It was a bad deal because it caused the extra loud alarm to sound when starting the coach.

The middle part of the foot rest did need a little tightening but other adjustments were eventually needed underneath, which we had done while at the factory for some other stuff.

We have the same problem. When we were in Nappanee for some service the tech looked at it for a while, the called in the rep from Flexsteel. They both worked on it for an hour or so doing adjustments. Nothing seemed to work. Flexsteel in California put in some new parts, and it still does the same thing. DW is not very happy about this. When DW isn’t happy.....

OP. I fixed it, turned out the foot rest was closing a little slower or was labored because the hinges just needed a little bit of lubrication. Now it closes so fast and completely. FYI.

Agreed, lubrications should be done periodically. Had this problem and I tried adjusting everything With no succes. Reported issue while at Nappanee, tech lubricated and worked perfectly.

Thanks! I was following this thread since our passenger seat's foot rest recently had stopped closing completely. I lubricated all hinges and the foot rest closed completely the first try!

After reading the above, I applied silicon spray to the various joints on the chair leg lift mechanism. Seems to have cleared up the problem. Thanks for the advice.
