DSDP 4018 - Converting from S&B to FT - how to fit?
OMG getting ready to sign for 2017 DSDP 4018 --> How did those who FT in this model (or one with similar storage) FIT??? We are two small-medium size adults and a 45 lb dog.
It seemed like such an easy decision at the end of a 8 week trip in a 24.5' Navion - we had no problems living in that smaller RV and had everything we needed and room for all. Now we are back at the S&B and looking around thinking - but we need THAT and THAT and OMG I can't sell THAT ---> how are we going to fit? There's not enough storage on the 2017 4018 for all the "gotta have"s.
So the question/s are -
1) What did you initially take with you that you ended up getting rid of?
2) What did you sell or dispose of that you had to re-purchase?
3) What advice would you give someone converting from PT/S&B to FT/DSDP40'?
Storage - we rent a $1k/year large bay, we were thinking of keeping that for at least a year. It is not heated, just good concrete floor & fully enclosed metal building, in the middle of a long row, and located in Ohio. We were thinking of storing my DH's truck and possibly other items there. Would this be a bad place for Ethan Allen wooden furniture? I'm guessing upholstered couch etc are out of the question to store? Other gotchas or no-nos for storage?
TIA!

PS - we did not get the basement freezer option so we have that bay also. So interior storage, and basement of ~2 bays (one full & 2 halves).

Stripe34-
I gave my two cents on a similar thread at this post.

Stripe34, Big decision, but you will enjoy it. First decide what are the absolute minimum required items for daily living, then start adding the nice/like to have items. Obviously large items of furniture will not go. When we started full timing we stored the absolutely could not part with items in A PODS container. They are stored in climate controlled environment, you have your lock on them and have access to the container with 24 hours notification. They drop, off you stuff, they pick up. They will deliver the container to any location you want when you stop full timing. We stored antiques, carpets, stuffed furniture and bedroom sets. No damage at all. It was like Christmas when we opened it after 7 years.
Take it slowly and don't over think the whole process.

I know you're thinking you need all this stuff, but you don't. Get a climate controlled storage for stuff you know you have to keep and ditch the techno stuff, 'cuz it will be outmoded before you know it. In a couple years you'll ask yourself why did I bother to store THAT? You'll be surprised at how little you need to haul around with you....and the space you need to live in. The big dog?....well, that's another story.

Thanks everyone. Mark, I read the older thread, it helps. It's just daunting when you start in on it :-)

How certain are you that you will love FT and not want to return "Home" in a few years? Throw out the stuff you should never have kept in the first place, then the stuff you have not used in years, then the stuff you don't use now or have plans to use ever again. Ditch all electronics that you won't take with you. Perhaps take pictures of those things you want to remember you once had. Then store what's left with a plan to come back in a year and shed yourself of what's left - or not.
