You are absolutely right. It could have been a really bad situation if I hadn't expected and allowed some room - in my case more room would have been better. Those steps could really hurt you, especially when the coach is lowered. There were all sorts of things I could have done to entirely avoid any mishap and still diagnosed the problem, especially being cognoscente of the possibilities.

More caution next time. A good reminder.
