Dura shield on new order?

Have read some posts on here about "Diamond Shield" on the front cap and noticed that Newmar uses "Dura shield" which seems to be just another vinyl covering/shield just like the Diamond Shield. It has a 10 year "limited" warranty but it seems that in the end it will have to come off like the Diamond Shield.

Anyone out there who does not have this vinyl protective covering and/or had it but doesn't have it any longer? Wondering about your experiences without it

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

Hi Rvlegaleagle,
Diamond Shield came on my coach from the factory. Followed the instructions to the letter. Used the recommended products. It still turned yellow and looked terrible. Got rid of it and went to a bra solution. A bit more work but I am very satisfied.

Talk with Wayne, the removal expert at https://uglyshieldremoval.com/

Mention that Rick referred you.

Unfortunately if Newmar left off the plastic covering and you had DIamond Shield install theirs, it is guaranteed for life against discoloring and mold growth underneath. Their new porous membrane is supposed to prevent those problems. We installed it on our toad, but haven't had it long enough to judge its durability.

IMO, without the covering, you'd have so many rock dings, it would look horrible. Going on 2.5 years with ours and the front still looks perfect and much easier to keep clean than paint alone.

Looking at the front of my dinged up rig which needs to be repainted, I wish I had the shield to be taken off.

The guarantee is for the material only. Labor to remove/reinstall and any repainting is extra.
