Dutch Star Propane
I've just started to look at Newmars as a potential step up from our Berkshire. One thing that I find confusing is that the specs list a propane tank but from what I'm seeing the unit is all electric and the heat is diesel fired. Am I missing something or misunderstanding what I'm seeing?

wnytaxman,
You didn't post which model you are looking at but the confusion may be that the standard 3 burner cook top is propane, whereas the all electric is an option. The Newmar website brochures are a great place for information but if that does't work for you, just call their customer service for additional answers. I seem to be talking to them on a weekly basis.
Good luck.

X2 Thats exactly how our 2012 DSDP is set up. Oasis diesel powered heat (and two rooftop heat pumps), propane only for the cook top. The residential fridge option added two additional batteries totaling 6.

My propane is used strictly for the stove. The Oasis hot water / heat system is both electric and / or diesel fired.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking at either an Entegra Anthem or a Dutch Star. There are pluses and minuses for both but just trying to see what suits our needs the best.

If you look at this link there are four links of people looking for a NEWMAR will have many answers for you including people to see at Newmar and any rearrangements of cabinetry you may want to change, they are very accommodating.
If that is not enough read the HOOT's threads.
Good luck in your hunt.

Do everything you must do, but by all means, TEST DRIVE a Dutch Star [or any Newmar product] with Comfort Drive Steering!
You won't go back....

Entegra has added their version of Comfort Drive, but only on their Cornerstone model. That rig lists for $650,000 and I'm about $850,000 short on that one, so I'll look at the more moderately priced units.
Now that I've typed out that statement I'm thinking that I never ever would have expected there would be a time when I would be referring to something with a price tag of somewhere between a quarter and a half a million as being reasonably priced!

Where did you see that? Others have posted that it was not so.

Go on line and check for a DSDP 2008 with Comfort Drive well within budget.

You are correct. I misread a post on the Entegra thread. There's always so much information on this Forum that it can sometimes get confusing.
Although I must admit that I have always been curious as to why no one else has ever picked up on the Comfort Drive as it is my understanding that Newmar no longer has exclusive rights to the patent. Is that correct?

Maybe others other than Newwell, I stand corrected by Route 66, can work the cost of CD into their line ups.
Its on Freightliner chassis's for Newmar also.

Not to hijack but I'm thinking of converting the stove to a TrueInduction and the refrigerator to a res. and then I could take out the propane tank to free up a major size compartment...
