Electronic brake controller for trailer brakes

Hi All,
I'm looking for advice on what brake controller is recommended and how to wire in my 2005 Kountry Star DP 3907. It appears the blue wire often in question runs to the 7 pin connector. I believe the previous owner flat towed and blue wire under dash is connected through a wire harness/connector. There is no brake controller (electric trailer brakes)
I would appreciate your suggestions.
Thank you.

I use a Tekonsha Prodigy for my brake controller. They have a P2 and P3 model which are very good.

I currently use the P3 model.

2005 Kountry Star Spartan Chassis Wiring Diagram

Rick-

I can't give a recommendation on an electric brake controller, but in case you ever need a wiring diagram for a 2005 Kountry Star, here's a link:

Thank you for the responses and the link. I do have the schematics but they don't show a brake controller connected. At least I haven't found that yet. I'll continue to research if there is a plug and play connection.
Thanks again and safe travels.

brake harness

I use the Tekonsha Controller also and have for years in previous coaches and just installed one in our new MADP. Don't know about your coach, but the info below may help in your project:

On my 2016 MADP, the harness was at the base of the steering column, left side, folded back and strapped. I removed the black rubberized steering column cover and it was easy to find at the base of the column at the fire wall.

The harness has a pigtail connected with a black connector, about 1"X3/4"X 3" long. On one end are two blue "keepers" to snug the wires in the connector. On the other end is a snap release to remove the pigtail for ease in wiring your new connectors on your workbench. Unsnap the black release...don't remove the blue keepers.

I installed a Tekonsha Controller. The FL harness is marked with white tags affixed to each wire. I had to cut the blunt ends off to expose about 1/2" of wire for my bullet snaps to connect to the brake controller.

The connections are: (FL=Freightliner)

FL Black - Ground (big 12ga wire). Connect the FL black wire to the White Tekonsha wire.

FL Red (big 12ga wire) +12v. Connect the FL red wire to the Tekonsha Black wire.

FL Red w/ white tracer - Stop light switch (small 18ga wire). Connect to Tekonsha red wire.

FL Red w/ white tracer - Brake power (big 12ga wire). Connect to the Tekonsha blue wire.

FL Brown is for a panel light on your controller - not used on my controller.

FL Pink - from the Ignition - not used.

Although the harness is fused in the MH, I installed an inline 20a fuse on the FL large red 12v wire.

Hope this helps.

Thanks dms. I'll check that out. My coach is an 05' on a Spartan chassis and I'm the second owner but I don't think the previous owners had a brake controller so maybe the connector is still under there somewhere.
Thanks for the hint!

That gives me a good idea of what to look for. I don't recall seeing anything like that but I have not looked for it either. If I can get to my coach after this snow storm I'll check it out!
Thank you all for your help.
