Eliminated the sliding screen door on my Dutch Star

After one year of dealing with the poorly designed newmar upper portion of the screen door, I screened the outside with screen material and 140 spline. No more having to put the screen back into the track. While I had the door off the coach, I replaced the clear scratched plexiglass with smoked colored plexiglass. Not real easy to cut, but after a little trial and error, I ended up with two awesome pieces.

It was about a hour and a half project and recommended those hassling with the darn screen to do this modification.

Same problem with screen door with the top screen onour 18 LA. Newmar has a different screen door with a single pull up handle that works better then the dual pull up we have. Asking Newmar to replace when we get to Newmar for some warranty.

Eliminated the sliding screen door on my Dutch Star

We have had the same problem with our screen door top screen. We were at Newmar earlier this week and they repaired a broken latch. But so far as the screen was concerned, their only advice was to keep it rolled up when not in use.

We find leaving it rolled up to be inconvenient. It needs to be stiffer to prevent the curling at the edges. A hem on each edge might help or sewing on some type of edge material.

I think I’ll give the OP’s idea a try.
