Engine air compressor

Getting Active Air installed soon has led me to think about something. This system uses more air than standard, so has anyone had or heard issues with the engine air compressor wearing out or going bad? I have no idea even what design the pump is or if it's a known issue.

Your existing compressor, if in good condition, will have far more than enough capacity to handle the requirements of the HWH Active Air suspension upgrade.

I'm sure it will, but I'm not sure about the durability of the pump. How long do they typically last? Is it a wear item?

They last well over 300,000 miles.
Big rigs, towing multi axle air brake trailers, use them.

They are 1 or 2 cylinder, recipracating , oil feed, water cooled units that use only filtered air and are not considered a wear item.

I had my 2013 with active air for 50k miles and 5 years, never had a problem. That isnt a part I would worry about. I love Active Air.

I have some posts on my blog from 2013 when I first installed the Active Air.

HWH Active Air – First impressions – Newmar Hoots

There is a total of 3 entries on that blog about active air. I really like the system for the comfort, and performance. Originally I was only interested in the air leveling, but active air is so much better.

Once you get up to the high-line, if you choose the freightliner chassis, then Newmar includes the VALID air system, which is very close to the HWH Active Air. I have a few posts where I did a test drive on a Valid and then Hadley system.

Hadley is pure crap, and I am suprised that more owners are not complaining. My only guess is that they have never experienced anything better.

The key to a good air ride system is large air lines to allow for very quick movement of air.

Valid and HWH both increase the air lines, while hadley uses a very small line. Hadley will compensate for this by turning up the PSI, but that is a band aid at best, and often the coach will give suspension errors while driving due to lack of recovery.

The Valid does not do anything Proactive to assist in cornering or emergency lane changes, but does react very fast.

HWH has a patented PRO-ACTIVE system that will allow for high speed cornering, lane changes, and is the safest system I have ever driven.

I see that the 2020 Entegras are getting the Valid system, no more Hadley!!!

Hopefully spartan and Newmar will do the same for 2020.

Of course the ultamite upgrade would be for a factory hwh active air with the hwh air seal on all slides, but that wont be happening anytime soon.
