engine brake gone

After a recent replacement of the driver's window motor, I was about 3 miles from my storage facility, and 135 from the repair facility, and put on my engine brake to slow down: nothing! I tried high/low/off/on/repeat: nothing! Boy, was I furious that I just found out that the window repair obviously messed up my engine brake. I called the repair facility, told them, and they asked if I knew a mobile RV tech in the area (so I would not have to drive back to where the window was repaired). I did not, but they did, and I made a date for 3 days hence. In the meantime, I looked under the switches to see if "they" forgot to attach a wire. Then, I called Newmar and asked about fuses. They conferenced a call with Spartan, who told me where the 5 amp fuse should be. I found no problems with a dangling wire or a burned fuse. Then, the mobile tech came out, and he tested the 3 engine brake wiring harnesses in the arm rest (he said Newmar does this kind of wiring for all kinds of optional setups). Two of the plug-ins were "hot", including the one that was plugged in, but that one had the wrong pin alignment. He simply switched the two plug-ins, and it was repaired. The entire operation took 10 minutes (plus the test drive), and I will utilize his services in the future. But, in case it happens to you, know you know what to look for.

I find this puzzling. Up until the time you threw the switch for your EB it worked. So how would a misaligned pin cause your problem unless the pin got bent at the repair facility you just left??

Sorry, if I didn't make it clear. The EB worked fine, but then I had the window motor repaired, and on the way home noticed the EB not working. Turns out that the wiring in the area of the EB switch and the window motor all has to be dismantled to replace the motor. So, when he put the wiring for the EB back together he put the incorrect plug into the EB switch, which I didn't notice til the end of my 2 hour drive home (as I did not try to actuate the brake until then). P.S. The window works great!

Had a similiar issue, except mine was the jacks. Dealer "fixed" power window then jacks stopped and front engine compartment would barely open. I realized the dealer took the panel off. I checked the HWH switch it was a 5 pin straight connector and they plugged it in a pin off.

Glad you mentioned that, as I haven't lowered the jacks since the window motor was replaced, and wasn't planning to until I got to Vegas (in 10 days). Thanks, I'll try them.
