This is impossible for me to test as I am the only driver in my household.

Do the brake lights come on when the engine brake engages? I have heard it both ways across different brands.

On our 2007 DSDPs the brake lights do come on when using the engine brake. I was able to see the reflection in the rear view monitor in the dark.

javajelly, at night it is very easy to see the reflection on your rear ladder via the back up monitor. Actually, when you look at the logic; whether you are braking via the brake pedal or the engine brake those driving behind you need to know what your intentions are.

I tow a 20' enclosed trailer with our '04 DSDP and have a Prodigy brake controller that activate the electric brakes on the trailer. When I installed the Prodigy I figured that it would only activate with the brake pedal; however, I was pleasntly surpried to find that the Prodigy is activated by either the brake pedalor the engine brake., Ken Roberts, Crossville, TN....

Actually I believe all Newmar DP's do activate the brake lights with the Pac or Jake brake except the K-2 chassis for '07, or at least most. Spartan did not order it programmed from Cummins as I believe was an oversight. Cummins can program the ECM to do it and Spartan pays the tab. I had mine programmed to work with the Jake. At this stage I would imagine most '07 MADP's and EXDP's do not work and the owners are not aware of it.

Peter is right again....As I have just returned from out of town, I had a letter detailing a CSB from Spartan in regard to my Essex, advising me to have the reprogramming done...
No call to Spartan needed and the letter even lists a web site to find the closest shop.
