Hello, I am new to this forum. I have a 2000 Dutch Star 38 Ft DP. Love the coach but have recently had a problem. When I first start out on a trip my Stop engine light comes on and a buzzer. No loss of power. After a few seconds it stops. Each time I accellerate hard the light comes on and then off again. Just recently changed the fuel filters and the coolant is full. Can anyone help me with possible causes? Thanks Bob S.

The first two times that happened to me, it was the fan belts (the engine lost power). After that it happened once, stopped making noise(like yours), with no loss of power, so I took it into my local Cummins dealer (Massey's). They read in the memory of the engine computer that it was nothing serious, so I ignored it (that was a couple of years ago). I would suggest taking it in, getting it looked at, and

After traveling many hours we stopped at a rest area shut the engine down. Restarted engine 20 minutes later and the stop engine light came on. Turned engine off and back on, light remained on. Got back on the highway, engine light remained on so we got off at the next exit 15 minutes later, shut engine down. I dug the manual out and looked up "stop engine light". It indicates a serious out of range condition and recommends stopping as soon as possible and having engine serviced. This was not a good read for me. However, I restarted engine and the light was out. Stayed out for two full days of traveling. Out of sight out of mind now. Probably a touchy sensor.

Welcome Bob to the Newmar forum & irv2.
With changing the filters the ECM may have registered the fact.
This thread indicated the same but with a wiring error to filter.
Maybe a couple of restarts will clear the light as others have said.

I had a similar issue last summer on my Newmar. Driving down the road and the buzzer would go off and the engine light would come on. What I found out after the first few times and I was not so focused on the engine light is that the jack light *(as if a jack was down) also lit. Next time it occurred, I pulled over put the jacks all way down and back up again and it went off. Further investigation showed a loose sensor wire that recorded the jack being up and safe to drive. Just a thought. Good luck.
