Hi Newmar owners,

I have posted a number of inquiries concerning Newmar coaches and have learned a lot in pusuit of my own coach. I just learned that some 39' Newmars such as the KSDP 39s can come with an ISL 350 hp or ISL 400 hp engine. With a GVWR of 32,000 I would ask any of you if you think the 400 is over kill with respect to necessary power and if it would be a fuel hog. So far your responses have generally indicated that mor torque is better, but I wonder if there is a point where you reach an over kill situation. I can see the ISL 400 going into larger coaches with tag axles.

Hi DLane, I had the same thought, when I looked into our next MH, a DP...
The Dealer told me, I should order the 400 HP Engine, but my feeling was 360 is plenty.... Lots of Trucks pulling B-Trains here etc, say that is plenty.... The KS we found has 400 HP.... The prev. owner ordered the extra HP (400), so I'm lucky....
If I had to order a new unit, I would stick with the 360 HP .
RVgreetings
