When I attended the FMCA Rally in Perry, GA this spring I saw an option on an Essex that I thought was really cool. I decided to build my own Entertainment, Information, and Navigation system. You can see the details at:

My RV Upgrades

Let me know what you think.

My goal with the system was to provide his and hers LCD information monitors that provided Music, GPS, Silverleaf and whatever else I think of.

Thanks,
Joe

Nice install. I did this in mid 2010 but have changed up some things since then as we moved to a DP and thus the ODB II was changed out to VMSPC. I also moved to 10" touch screen monitors. RVputer, aka Carputer, Car PC, Car Computer You posted a great explaination and photos... maybe some day I will finish the photos and documents..

I think the both of you have done what many would like to try because of the problems with Newmars entertainment setups and Navigation systems, Panasonic comes to mind.
Would like to add this thread to Quick Tips for member reference and mine.
Will be waiting on pictures Ronnie.

Nice upgrade, Joe
Sure would like to be able to upgrade my DSDP 2006's Winegard Video control box and my Sony DVD-VCR player - but I would get lost in all those cables
Some day I will find somebody to help and revamp the whole system.
Being from eastern Canada (the Maritimes), not much help around here but I do spend Winters in Ft Myers Beach.....

Let's keep in touch - I try to travel to Northern Maine in our coach every year if possible (that is were we're from). We stay just west of Perth/Andover, NB. If we bump into each other I can help you upgrade.

Joe

Excellent Presentation Joe. Could you give us an idea of what it cost for the upgrades for hardware and software?
Thanks
Jim

Sure - the hardware included -

PC - $700
Monitors - about $300 each
Cables - about $50
Silverleaf - $399 I think.

Software - Windows 7 - I'm guessing about $150
