Entrance Door Awning - Opened on its own

Stopped for fuel a few days ago. While filling, the awning extended fully on its own! Tried to retract and just got a clicking sound. After several attempts it came back in.

Today, we noticed a sound from the awning, like it was trying to open again (a whirring sound), then the sound stopped. Now the awning is inop - won't move.

Why would this happen? What fuse is for the awning?

Had similar problem .Stripped clutch shaft on awning roller. Dilled and installed a 1/4 20 set screw in clutch shaft to flat part of motor shaft. Time consuming but cost less than one dollar to fix . Check you tube .

Just to be sure - Did the awning come out under power or did gravity pull it out?

Thanks

Well, from the sounds of it, at least you were stopped. I had mine come open while driving thru our storage facility to fill the fresh water. Of course, I didn't notice it until I pulled back into my slot and the open awning got pretty much destroyed by the building support pole. The dealer found out after investigation that Newmar didn't hook up the ignition interlock wire
