A few nights ago, we had a severe electrical storm come through the campground. After it was over, the entrance steps on our coach will not stay out with the door closed. I removed both fuses and it still will not stay out. The only way I can make it stay out is to unplug the electrical connection underneath the coach.
We always keep the switch for the steps on the monitor panel in the off position so that when we are parked and the ignition is off, the steps will stay out. Since the storm, this switch makes no difference whatsoever.
I think the module is fried. What do you all think?

Not sure this LINK will help you but your brake switch may need some adjustment or a new switch on door frame.

I think you're right. Did you replace it yet or did you correct the problem in another way?

Your module is operating the stairs to move out or in maybe door switch or a bad control switch.

If I understood RICERE correctly by what he has explained his entrance steps are acting as if the engine is running or his On/Off by-pass switch is in the on position, retracting the steps once the door is closed. If the steps retract when the door is shut then one could eliminate the door switch. If the on/off switch took the hit and is acting as always on that would be a possibility and you could remove and test it. We know the motor is working since the steps extend and re-tract so my opinion would be that a relay module that is fed from the ignition to signal it's on and forcing the steps to retract once the door is closed no matter what position the Step switch is in, (on or off,) might have a frozen contact caused by the storm. If there isn't a module then whatever controls this event has been effected, circuit board, etc.
