We are in the State Park at Galveston. After 5 days the step stuck in the out position. I have flipped the switch on and off. Turned the key on and off. Started the engine. It has not moved. Is there a dedicated fuse? I am sure this something simple. If not how do you bypass?

I have the 05 4304 Mountain Aire and have same probems with my steps. It doesn't seem to be consistant but playing with the switch on the control panel above the dash somehow finally gets me back to what I need. Try turning your ignition key off and on while switching the steps switch and see if that helps. Sorry, but it's one of those gremlins.

Thanks, we have been doing the usual on off routine. The 5 amp fuse is good. It happened one other time and started just as it stopped. We are leaving in the morning before noon and I figured I would take it loose if it doesn't shut and manually close it. If anyone has done this please advise.

Looking at the Installation papers that came with the coach it says the door switch should be 6 inches above the floor on the hinge side of the door frame. Did Newmar use another type of switch other than what is shown? There is nothing that appears to be like the picture. Perhaps it is hidden and magnetic?

Should be magnetic. To manually operate disconnect above the top step(underneath) and tie up(with rope or bungee).

Just be careful if you have Kwikee step. If it does activate while you are under there it has enough power to take a finger or two with it. Disconnect the plug to the motor before trying other things. Check ground then to make sure that is good. Good Luck.

Thanks to all for your response! I have returned the coach to my warehouse shop and my shop foreman removed the motor in it's housing. The housing is cracked. Not sure what happened here. His opinion is that someone of my girth stepped on it as it was still coming out as I was going in? Will get a new one on order Monday.

The steps were made by SCS/Fregette. You can get parts from LCI at 866-524-7821. I ordered the new housing and motor unit for $75.87 plus shipping. It was under warranty but it is sometimes it is just easier and quicker to DIY. The new part has 3 year warranty.
